Audition Notice

Auditions for the next ACTS play, “My First Time” by Ken Davenport, will take place on Monday and Tuesday, June 18-19, at 6:00pm-8:00pm at the ACTS Suite 208 in the Shoppes at Seymour outlet mall. Rated M for Mature Audiences.

“My First Time” features four actors in hysterical and heartbreaking stories about first sexual experiences written by real people. In 1998, a decade before blogging began, a website was created that allowed people to anonymously share their own true stories about their First Times. The website became an instant phenomenon as over 40,000 stories poured in from around the globe that were silly, sweet, absurd, funny, heterosexual, homosexual, shy, sexy and everything in between. And now, these true stories and all of the unique characters in them are brought to life by four actors in this acclaimed 90-minute play from Ken Davenport, producer of Altar Boyz and creator of The Awesome 80s Prom.

Four acting roles are available (2 men, 2 women), and we will also need two technical assistants; age/experience are not an issue. Show dates will be August 17-18 & 24-25, 2018. Directed by Kat Baute. For more information, or to arrange a private audition, please call/text 812-498-2127 or email katbaute.acts@gmail.com. Produced with special permission by Samuel French, Inc.

ACTS is proud to present their next comedy, “You Have the Right to Remain Dead” by Pat Cook. Performances will be Friday & Saturday, June 8-9 & 15-16, 2018. Doors open at 7:00pmET, and the show begins at 7:30pmET, at the ACTS Suite 208 in the Shops at Seymour outlet mall.

You’ve just settled down in a theatre to solve a murder mystery. The narrator introduces you to the play, and you meet Fat Daddy, a rich but vindictive southern gentleman with an equally conniving and scheming family. So you know who’s going to die, right? But who will the murderer be?

Will it be Sweet Mama, Daddy’s pandering wife; Hyacinth, the daughter who’s always cleaning the family firearms; Earl the worm, or his overly amorous wife, Savannah; or Clete, the sullen handyman who, for some reason, is in the will? Then Fat Daddy is discovered, dead as a hammer.

Except the corpse isn’t Daddy’s—it’s the narrator’s! The director comes on stage and the police arrive. Now you have to figure out which of the actors murdered the narrator. And not only are you questioning the cast, but they are questioning you! Yes, you are a suspect as well! This frantic comedy will have audiences guessing until the last clue is dropped and the last joke dies!

However, his teenage children, a girl from one family and a boy from the other, have met on the Internet and are eager to meet in person since they have so much in common— name, surname and taxi driving dad! Keeping them apart plunges John into a hell hole of his own making, and the situation spirals out of control as John together with his neighbor, Stanley, juggles outrageously with the truth. Join us for a night of hilarity as we see if John and Stanley can keep it together, or if the whole story will unravel!

Announcement: Production Postponed & Replaced

Due to a cast emergency, “Mama Won’t Fly” by Jones/Hope/Wooten has been postponed. The new dates will be September 8-9 & 15-16, 2017.

ACTS is proud to announce that AR Gurney’s “Love Letters” will take over the performance dates previously set for “Mama Won’t Fly”.

“Love Letters” is a reader’s theatre classic that follows a stiff-necked young man (portrayed by Jeremy Kinnett) and a free-spirited young woman (played by Kat Baute) as they explore their friendship and ultimately their deep and enduring love for each other. What begins as a simple invitation to a child’s birthday party and its subsequent thank-you note evolves into a lifelong correspondence between Andrew and Melissa. Follow their epistolary journey in this powerfully emotional tale.

Note: This is a reader’s theatre piece. This means the actors will have their scripts with them during the play. “Love Letters” was written to be very simply produced without a complex set or physical action, in order to enhance the emotion in the actors’ words and tone - focusing on what the actors are saying rather than doing.

Performances will be June 16-17 & 23-24 at Suite 208 in the Shoppes at Seymour (357 Tanger Blvd, Seymour IN 47274). Doors will open at 7:00pmET, and the show will begin at 7:30pmET. Tickets are $10/person and will be available at the door and online here. For more information, please call or text 812-498-2127 or email us.

ACTS is proud to present our next production, “I Bet Your Life” by Fred Carmichael. Performances will be March 31, April 1, 7, & 8, 2017, located at our suite 208 in the Shoppes at Seymour outlet mall (357 Tanger Blvd). Doors will open at 7:00pm, and the show will begin at 7:30pm. Hilarious situations, clever dialogue, intriguing romance and surprise twists make this breezy comedy a delight. Soap opera author Matthew Stoddard has written a screenplay about a terminally ill man who hires a hitman to kill him and then finds out he was misdiagnosed. Matt’s agent and best friend, Gregory Larson, thinks the plot is not feasible, so Matt contacts a gangster and arranges for an incognito hitman to join them at a dinner party in the country to prove his point. Circumstances place a real hitman among the guests and the action accelerates as they try to find out who it is before the deadline. Stacy, secretary and love interest to both men, does her best to help them solve the identity question as surprise after surprise thwarts them. Is the whole scheme really a con game? And who cons the con man? And who is conning them all? Join us for an evening of mystery and laughs as the dinner party unfolds!

Directed by Betty Baute. Rated T for Teen+ audiences due to some adult themes.
