Country music star Jamey Johnson to entertain at Michigan Lottery Amphitheater – Macomb Daily


Old-time country music singer James Johnson is scheduled to perform in Sterling Heights in September, but he’s not sure what songs he’ll be on the setlist.

Johnson announced a Sept. 9 concert at the Michigan Lottery Amphitheater on Tuesday. He will be joined by Blackberry Smoke and special guest Megan Moroney.

Known for his shaggy beard and hair and his vintage, Johnson says his setlist is virtually non-existent.

“I don’t know what I’m going to do until I’m here to do it,” he said in a statement. “It’s a freedom I’ve enjoyed since I started doing this, the ability to try something new.

“You’ll see me doing a lot of my songs, including my old stuff. If I have a new song that I want to share, you will hear it. When I’m not making my songs, I make those of all the others I like, in all formats. If I find a jazz song that I like, we’ll drop it in there. If I find a rock song that I like, we’ll do it.

This leg of the tour begins on August 12 in Lincoln, Nebraska and ends September 11 in Ohio. MLA date arrives at the end of a series of 19 dates.
