SAG HARBOR, NY – “Seinfeld” fans will get to see their beloved Jason Alexander put on another creative hat, as he helms “Windfall,” which kicks off Mainstage’s summer season at the Bay Street Theater in Sag. Harbor this weekend.
The show, described as a “black comedy” by Scooter Pietsch, premiered May 31, opens June 4 and runs until June 19. The offer is Alexander’s first project on the site.
“It’s an exquisite joy to have live theater in our lives again and I’m thrilled to help bring this wild black comedy to life for Bay Street audiences,” said Alexander. “‘Windfall’ has a lot to say about dreams, greed, corruption and all that is funny and scary about the human condition. It’s a thrill ride and we can’t wait to see it. to share.
According to a statement, the comedy centers on “five office workers in Columbus, Ohio who toil under the heavy hand of a maniacal boss and dream of a better life. When the boss’s antics become too much to supporter, they bet every last penny on a life-changing lottery jackpot. But the prospect of winning brings out the worst in these best friends. A dark and hilarious comedy that explores how far each of us would go in his desire to have it all and live the American Dream.”
Bay Street Theater Artistic Director Scott Schwartz commented on the show: “I was drawn to this story about money and the evils of greed and can’t wait to see Jason’s twist. He’s been a friend of the theater for a long time and it’s exciting to kick off the 2022 season with him.”
“Windfall” is produced by special arrangement with John Yonover and Ken Davenport, and directed by Alexander; the cast includes Spencer Garrett, Abigail Isom, Talia Thiesfield, Ro Boddie and Dylan S. Wallach.
