Bay Street Theater & Sag Harbor Center for the Arts is pleased to announce Swing! I Go For That, a live, in-person concert with Grammy-nominated pianist and singer Judy Carmichael and special guests, on Saturday, December 4 at 8 p.m. at the Bay Street Theater in Sag Harbor.

The evening marks Carmichael’s first live concert at the Bay Street Theater in two years, showcasing his signature blend of swing music, sassy humor and sultry vocals – think meeting Fats Wallers Peggy lee meets Paula Poundstone. Masks and vaccination documents required to enter.

Judy Carmichael and her trio-bassist Pat O’Leary and guitarist Chris Flory-will browse the favorites of the Gershwins’ Great American Songbook and Cole porter To Harold Arlen and Randy Newman. The show airs locally on WLIW 88.3 FM on Sundays at 7 p.m. Originally from California, Judy Carmichael moved to New York City in the early 1980s and has since maintained a busy concert schedule around the world. She has toured for the United States News Agency in India, Portugal, Brazil and Singapore. In 1992, Carmichael was the first US government sponsored jazz musician to tour China. The musician who critics have called “amazing, perfect and captivating” (The New York Times) has performed in a variety of venues, from Carnegie Hall at the Peggy Guggenheim Museum in Venice (the first concert ever presented by the museum) to programs with Joel gray, Michael Feinstein, Steve ross, and the Smothers brothers. Additionally, Ms. Carmichael has performed comedy sketches and performed her music on radio and television, and has given private recitals for everyone from Rod stewart and Robert redford to President Clinton and Gianni Agnelli.Bay Street Theater is a fully vaccinated company.
