Macon-Bibb County Approves US Amphitheater Design/Build Team

The Macon-Bibb County Urban Development Authority in the United States has approved the selection of a design/build team for the new outdoor amphitheater which will have a capacity of 10,000 people.

Acting on behalf of Macon-Bibb County, the authority approved the team consisting of Piedmont Construction Group, TVS, Stage Front and HGOR for the amphitheater to be built at Macon Mall.

The amphitheater stage will be on the southeast corner of the venue facing Rocky Creek and Mercer University Drive.

It will include 2,500 fixed seats in a stepped bowl and 6,000 lawn seats outside the roof and bowl structure.

In addition, 1,500 temporary seats will be arranged on a flat floor between the fixed seats and the amphitheater stage.

Other amenities will include green space, artist dressing rooms, ticket booths, vendor and event areas, a green room and transition walkways.

Two entry plazas will have retail amenities, concessions, and restrooms, as well as other retail options around the amphitheater. A full service restaurant is expected to be built in the future.

Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller said, “We want to provide a top-notch entertainment experience for people who attend the shows and performers.

“This team doesn’t just design an installation. They bring their knowledge and experience of the entertainment industry to ensure this venue serves our community, the state, and future talent.

The design/build team will initially work with Macon-Bibb County, industry representatives, local and state partners, and the community to create a final design for the amphitheater.
