Pipestone hosts community theater festival


PIPESTONE – Community theater groups and enthusiasts from across Minnesota will come together for MACT * Fest 2021 September 17-19 in Pipestone.

The Calumet Players will host the festival at the Pipestone Performing Arts Center, located at 104 East Main St., Pipestone, sponsored by the Minnesota Association of Community Theaters.

Audiences will see a variety of short plays and be able to attend workshops on topics of interest to actors, directors, technical crews and fans of community theater.

Seven theater troupes will present shows:

  • 7:00 pm Friday September 17th: “After the Flags and Band” by Pipestone’s Calumet Players, “O Romeos, Romeos”, by Ole Olson Onstage of Stillwater; and “How to Host a Murder Mystery Dinner (in Fifteen Easy Steps)” from Savage’s Stage and Spotlights Community Theater.

  • 1 pm Saturday, September 18: “CasaBlanche” from the Marshall Area Stage Company, Marshall, and “If the Shoe Fits…” from the Paynesville Community Theater, Paynesville.

  • 7:00 pm Saturday, September 18: “The 3 Way”, by Mindless Mirth Productions, St. Paul, and “The Fallen Angel”, by The Taken for Granite Players, Richmond.

The workshops include communication between all aspects of production, technical issues, learning accents and dialects, and the inner workings of production.

People can attend part of the festival or purchase ticket packages to see all seven shows, attend workshops and participate in the parties.

All recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Minnesota Department of Health in effect at the time of the festival will be followed. Tickets are on sale at mact.net.
