The Beach Boys take the stage at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) – Under dark skies, the Beach Boys took to the stage at the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The clouds and thunderclaps in the background did not prevent anyone from sitting on the lawn to listen to their favorite songs.

“Small knockout, good vibes definitely up there… pretty much everything actually. They have that special sound, ”said participant Mike Brush.

People lined up from the street entrance, including entire families – one with three generations of Beach Boy fans.

“I once heard ‘Surfing in the USA’ on the radio and had to listen to them all, it was fantastic and ever since…” said Adam, a participant.

“We tried to have them last year as a lot of people know they unfortunately canceled but they’re back so we’re so excited to have them,” said Phoebe Breckenridge.

Tuesday’s concert and crowd not only give hope to a struggling entertainment industry, but also downtown restaurants that have long been awaiting the return of concert nights.

“Business is back for concert nights in downtown Youngstown and we’re just happy to be a part of it,” said 1907 Bistro owner Mark Canzonetta.

A list of all upcoming concerts at the amphitheater and tickets are available on the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheater website.
