The Main Street Theater (MST) produces hilarious summer fare with Tom Stoppard’s brilliant comedy The Real Inspector Hound. A well-crafted parody of Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries, Hound takes us inside a room within a room in this high-energy thriller. MST has been a champion of Stoppard’s work since his debut, including being one of the few theaters in the world to produce his standout trilogy, The Coast of Utopia.
Production begins Saturday night, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. and will run through August 7 at MST – Rice Village, 2540 Times Blvd. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 3:00 p.m. Tickets cost between $35 and $59, depending on date, section and availability.
The production will also be available online from July 28 to August 7. Tickets range from $20 to $40. All tickets are on sale by phone at 713.524.6706 or online at MainStreetTheater.com.
Guests attending in person will be required to present proof of a negative COVID test result (within 48 hours). A vaccination card can be presented instead of the test. Photocopies or a photo on your phone of medical records will be accepted. Masks are strongly recommended but not mandatory.
Attending the premiere of a new murder mystery, two conflicted theater critics soon find themselves drawn into play within play! In the hilarious parody of Agatha Christie-style mysteries that follows, the mists roll around the secluded Muldoon Mansion and critics become embroiled in the murderous activities of an escaped madman. It’s a brilliant comedy as only Tom Stoppard can do!
