Auditions scheduled for the musical production of ‘Stepsisters’ – Friday and Saturday

The Ripon Area Community Theater will hold auditions for its summer musical production of “Stepsisters” Friday from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Ripon.

Callbacks will take place on Tuesday, May 24 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The show is open to all actors/actresses aged 12 and over.

Rehearsals will take place from June 13 to August 11 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The dates of the shows are August 12, 13 and 14.

The auditions will include singing and reading. Those who audition will be required to prepare a 2-minute song to perform. It can be played with/without accompaniment. Readings will be offered during the auditions.

An open call for musicians and crew will take place, with sign-up sheets available on both trial days for those interested in volunteering in any of these areas.

“Stepsisters” is a musical that tells the story of Cinderella from the perspective of Cinderella’s stepsisters; who insist they are innocent and that the Brothers Grimm have it all wrong.

Barlow Park Movie Night – Saturday

Riponfest and the City of Ripon are teaming up to once again bring the community a movie night in the park.

The screening of “Encanto” is scheduled for Saturday at 7 p.m. behind the fence of the park grounds.

Popcorn, candies and drinks will be available for purchase.

“We can’t wait to see everyone there,” Riponfest posted on Facebook.

Likewise, the city added on social media that it was “delighted to partner with Riponfest 2.0 for this Saturday’s Movie Night in the Park.”

Friday, May 20 — Karaoke night:

Pastimes Pub & Grille will be hosting Karaoke Night on Friday at 8:30 p.m. and invites the community to join in the fun.

Princeton Wine Walk – Saturday

The Princeton Chamber of Commerce will host the Sip and Shop on the Fox Wine Walk on Saturday along the Water Street stores on the 400-600 blocks of West Water Street.

“Join the Princeton Chamber of Commerce for a walk around town with a twist,” the chamber says. “Water Street will be blocked off so you can sip wine and shop at local businesses.”

Saturday, May 21— Plant Exchange:

Do you have a plant that you have outgrown? Do you have cuttings to share?

Join the Ripon Public Library for a plant swap on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to noon in the Silver Creek Room.

Participants should bring plants or cuttings they wish to donate or trade.

No repotting at the library is allowed. Plants should be ready to go home with someone else, so plants should not be brought into favorite planters. All ages are welcome.

Live Music at Vines & Rushes – Friday & Saturday

Vines & Rushes Winery will host live music with Rock River 2 Friday from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

“Glen Navis and Mike Bautz of the Rock River Band will play a mix of country, blues and rock music,” the winery said.

Then on Saturday, Vines & Rushes will host Live Music with Dan Braaksma & Al Muenchow from 2-5pm.

“Local musicians Dan Braaksma and Al Muenchow will play a mix of country, blues, jazz and rock on Saturday May 21,” the winery says. “They have great sound and a lot of fans. Don’t miss it.

Princeton Flea Market — Saturday

Wisconsin’s largest outdoor flea market in Princeton City Park takes place on Saturdays from 6 a.m. until early afternoon.

“Enjoy unique discoveries and treasures,” says the Princeton Chamber of Commerce.
